A Personal Aside — Fine Watchmaking

Away from the stage and the teaching studio, Maggy has another long-standing fascination: fine watchmaking. Small, precise instruments, finished by hand and held to an exacting standard — she finds the discipline strikingly close to that of training a voice.

• It was a singing student who first dragged her off the straight and narrow and into the world of replica watches.
